SPERANZA

Abstract

In view of the challenge posed to Sustenta during 2013 — to question the Architecture practice and the corresponding disciplinary systematization in view of the situations of social conflict that result from the heterogeneity and intersubjectivities characteristic of the city's political space (whose maintenance of the habitat of their communities, at the mercy of various cultural and economic circumstances, perceive themselves to be strongly conditioned by the effects of globalization) — this research project aims to conceptualize and give greater scope to the expression of these practices, interpreted with a predominantly ideological bias. It will be, first of all, a matter of debating the concept of city in order to avoid the consequences of adopting “expeditious” governance solutions — rooted in the active participation of local communities, even if foreign to current management models territorial — to then establish the premises of a sustainable intervention program in terms of housing (on a small scale) and of the means of production and subsistence (on a large scale). In a context of pedagogical training action with the Locals Association, architecture will be seen as the mediator element of a transdisciplinary process of assessment of the referred program, tested by the academic community of FA-ULisboa and ISA-ULisboa with the local community of a case study.
