There is an idea of city that has freed itself from the anthropological conditioning of the space of human survival. Power has appropriated this idea as an advantage, using what will justify it to perpetuate the logic of use and appropriation of space (mostly in the sense of maintaining a certain order). It's about: controlling, fragmenting, prohibiting and allowing human actions in the space of their daily lives. Thus, from the institutional point of view, the city is a receptacle of all the mechanisms through which institutional contents condition our profile of "citizens".

In the meantime, as a concept and as a result of this, the city is being reformulated. And therefore, the issues always arise, regarding various types of legitimacy and the process of evolution of our own identity. In our lifetime, what is legitimate and what is identity is reduced to a negotiation between usufruct and deprivation of "qualified" things and services. Thus, signification recovers the profit. Isn't there, today, an economy of desire that decisively influences our relationship with cities? Only for this reason is it urgent to rethink the meaning of what we call urbanity.

As a device that artificializes our habitat, the city seems to have discovered its most generous goal in the maintenance of a space of Edenic survival, where a model of uses and the conditions capable of offering it try to suppress all the annoyances inherent to the physical survival of the inhabitant's body .

 

Economies (of Tolerance and Authoritarianism)

The way resources, services, and goods are distributed by the population - such as the power that manages the city and ranks priorities, allowing or denying the establishment of territories; and ensuring the maintenance of an order that enables a certain type of market - are reflexes and become designers of the urban planning.
