  • Provide the fundamentals of the discipline of conservation of architectural heritage in its multiple aspects (from the object to the historic city).

Develop an analysis and diagnosis methodology of the territory according to an integrated vision of landscape, based on integrative strategies of sustainable requalification for rural areas and their built heritage:

  • Study of the human settlement appropriations of the territory, taking into account the analysis of their ecological and cultural systems to identify the reasons of rural exodus;

  • Determine the potential land-uses related to the rural farming (agriculture, forestry and nature conservation) and the self-eco-construction according to the integrative solutions of conversion, recovery and requalification of heritage;

  • Understand that earth architecture presents some economical and sustainable advantages when compared to current construction techniques due to its low energy consumption and low emissions; earth architecture is also able provide comfortable and quality spaces that comply with the thermal and acoustical needs of the users;

  • Associate the idea of being contemporary with  sustainable materials; share and disseminate traditional building techniques combined with new technologies in response to economic and environmental problems;

  • Learn the theoretical and technical fundamentals of earth systems through the discussion and experimentation with the techniques of adobe, earth rammed walls, pressed earth blocks and framed construction focused on innovation;

  • Develop knowledge through the teachings and fundamental principles of vernacular architecture and explore new forms of integration.
